MRS. SALAMATU H. SULEIMAN – Founder
A lawyer by training with over 35 years of work experience, Mrs. Suleiman has served in various senior capacities in both private and public sectors.
She commenced her career as a State Counsel with the Ministry of Justice Sokoto (1981-1988) and thereafter worked with the Continental Merchant Bank (1988-1996), NAL Merchant Bank (1996-1997) and as Secretary Legal Adviser with the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (1997-2001) and Securities and Exchange Commission (2001-2008). In 2008 she was appointed as the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development of the Federal Government of Nigeria, and again as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in 2010.
Mrs. Suleiman holds a Masters Degree in Law (LLM) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (1987) and has attended various professional and development courses over the years.
In addition to contributing in the formulation and implementation of various strategic development policies while serving as Minister, she still actively supports gender and humanitarian issues particularly the empowerment of women and the less privileged through various platforms.
She was appointed Commissioner Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the ECOWAS Commission in February 2012.
Mrs. Suleiman is married with children.
MR. MOHAMMED BELLO HUSSAINI – CHAIRMAN
A seasoned banker who retired as a Regional Manager of a leading bank in Nigeria, Union Bank Plc. Mohammed Bello holds a B.Sc. in Accounting. Since his retirement from the bank, he now commits his time to the activities of the Foundation.
DR UMAR FAROUK HUSSAINI
Dr. Umar Farouk Hussaini retired as Director, Panning Research and Statistics in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. A PhD holder in Education, Dr. Umar Hussaini worked variously as a teacher, lecturer at the University of Sokoto and later transferred disservice to the Federal Civil Service. Since retirement in 2014, he amongst other things commits his wealth of experience to the activities of the Foundation.
MRS RABIAT HALIRU
Former Commissioner for Women Affairs in the old Sokoto State, former Commissioner for Education in Kebbi State, Hajiya Rabiat Haliru holds a B.A.Degree in Education. With working experience as Principal, Federal Government Girls College Gwandu and Deputy General Manager National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), she provides inputs in the Educational and health programmes of the Foundation.
MRS. HALITA ALIYU, MFR
An award-winning, B.Sc. (Hons) Social Science graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, an alumnus of University of Manchester and the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, Hajia Halita Aliyu has had a successful career serving at Management and Board levels: Board chairman MTEL, two times Director NITEL Board, and now on the Boards of Interconnect Clearinghouse Limited and Peoples Media Limited. Hajia Halita Aliyu also served on the Presidential Advisory Council from 2010 to 2011. She has over 38 years of working experience in both the public and private sectors, working as a public officer, manager, consultant and entrepreneur. Her wealth of experience brings a lot of value to strategic positioning of the Foundation for effective delivery of its various programmes.
